Donald Trump had a complete meltdown during an interview after he was pressed on baseless claims that American elections were rigged.
This is what happens the moment he is faced with just an ounce of scrutiny.
Some might call him a ‘snowflake’…
Over the weekend, the president spoke to NBC News’s Kristen Welker as part of Sunday’s Meet the Press.
During the interview, Trump claimed primary elections currently taking place in California were “rigged”, before repeating the claims about the 2020 presidential election which he lost to Joe Biden.
Welker pointed out to Trump that he had never provided evidence for his claims about the 2020 election, before asking him if he had any proof of electoral interference in California.
Of course, Trump had no evidence for either because there is no evidence, so he replied: “All I have to do is look, and I listen.”
When Welker reminded the Republican that is not evidence, Trump flew off the chain, accusing the media and the journalist of “crooked.”
After Welker told the president she isn’t crooked, he raged at her: “You’re either crooked or you’re stupid!
After more reasonable requests for just a morsel of evidence for elections being rigged, Trump grew increasingly irate.
Continuing to claim the media is biased against him, Trump fumed: “You’re crooked, Meet the Press is crooked, and so is ABC and CBS and CNN, you’re one-sided, crooked networks.”
Then, he decided he’d had enough.
“Let’s call it quits,” he said, before patronisingly telling Welker: “Thank you darling.”
The journalist pleaded with Trump to carry on the interview, explaining how far they’d travelled to talk to him, but he wasn’t interested.
Reacting to the interview, many slammed Trump for his behaviour, labelling it his “worst meltdown” and the “most unhinged interview with any world leader ever.”
Republican lawmaker Emmanuel Welch was among those to note that this was Trump’s latest instance of treating female journalists with disdain.
Political commentator Mehdi Hasan theorised what the reaction from Trump supporters might have been if Kamala Harris or another female politician had reacted so emotionally in an interview.
With every passing day, Trump appears to become increasingly mentally unstable.
