Welcome to our live coverage of the results of the 2026 local elections.
As the public went to the polls yesterday to vote for their next batch of councillors, the results have just started coming through this morning.
The overall picture so far is a huge shift in political opinion in the country as Labour and the Tories lose big, Reform win bigger and the Greens and Lib Dems eat away at the scraps.
While it is vitally important to remember that local elections, and therefore councillors, are responsible for a whole different set of responsibilities to MPs and the government, how people have voted yesterday is a very accurate indicator of the general sentiment of the nation.
Unsurprisingly then, the parties outside of the status quo are making the most of these turbulent times, with Reform, the Greens and the Lib Dems all increasing their seat count from four years ago.
