Not the scenario Michael Carrick needed before the season start.

Manchester United continued their pre-season with a friendly against the European champions Paris Saint Germain, though were handed a bitter blow just 20 minutes into the match.

Michael Carrick's Red Devils have started their friendly campaign emphatically, thrashing Rosenborg 5-0 and dispatching Atletico Madrid 2-1.

Then taking on Luis Enrique's world-class outfit, the score remained all square after Bryan Mbeumo fired the side level after Ibrahim Mbaye opened the scoring.

Though a concern has come the way of Carrick, with Mason Mount forced off early into the match.

Mount, who has suffered seriously with numerous injuries in previous campaigns, was replaced by teenager Tyler Fletcher in Sweden.

The club are then taking on Leeds United and AC Milan, managed by former gaffer Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils lastly kick off their Premier League campaign against the newly promoted Hull City on Saturday 22 August at 12:30.

Man United handed second injury blow in one half

United were then handed another injury blow in the friendly versus Paris Saint Germain.

Tom Heaton, who made an unbelievable double save to deny the European Champions from going ahead, had to be substituted at half-time.

The extent of the injury again is unknown, but he was replaced by the young Dermot Mee for the second-half of the match.

Carrick issues update on Mount

Carrick has spoken on the Mount injury, indicating that he was just taken off as a precaution, as per Simon Stone.

Mount appeared to be fine leaving the stadium, with no signals of discomfort.

Positive news for the Red Devils.
